Find Your Niche

Blogging has become one of the fastest ways on the internet to communicate and spread news and information. You can express yourself and be as creative as you want. And you can also make money!

Great perks right?

5-Common-Blogging-Mistakes-And-How-to-Fix-Them

So what will your blog be about? What is this word niche that people throw around when you do research on blogging?

No matter how good your content is or how many times you blog a week, there is one thing you must have. You will find it difficult to build your audience and getting the traffic you need. That thing is called a niche.

A niche is the general topic that you write about. Your blog revolves around this one topic with a specific audience in mind.

I know what you are thinking, how boring right? Write about only ONE topic?

The majority will follow a blog that has one niche. If your niche is beauty. Then you will be the beauty blogger everyone goes to. Health and fitness? You want to be the one the go to health and fitness blog.

Here is why it’s beneficial to have one niche:

  1. Having one niche makes you an expert. You will learn tremendous amount of information about your niche if you don’t already know. Soon people will just go to your blog for info, resources, how-to’s, and tricks.
  2. Blogging about what you love will make it so easy to write about it. That’s why your niche has to be your passion. You have to have awesome content to keep readers engaged.
  3. You will have a greater chance of keeping readers if you have a niche. If you have a family blog and your post goes viral. Amazing right? However, your next blog ends up being how to refinish floors, all those family readers will not follow you anymore. It makes building an audience hard if you are writing about many different topics.
  4. You can make money. It’s great to blog as a past time or hobby. However, one thing that was on my list of reasons to run two blogs besides the passion for writing, was making some coins. You can monetize your blog by joining affiliate companies, selling your own products, or creating an e-book to sell. Repeat readers who love your blog will buy from you.

This is where passion plays an important part.

Make sure that you are blogging about something you are passionate about. If you are blogging about something you have no interest in, your blogging days will be short. Blogging with passion does a few things:

  1. You will not run out of ideas easily- Your blogging about something you LOVE! You can talk about it all day.
  2. Passion will show in your writing. Your audience will be able to “feel” what you are writing about relate, which builds trust with your audience.
  3. You will put in more effort and time in your blog.

Do Your Research

Now that you have decided your blog niche. Do some research. Become a part of the community of that niche. Follow bloggers who have a multitude of followers. Read, comment, and see the audience feedback. You can see what is being covered, but also see what subjects that other bloggers are not touching on in your niche. You can blog about territory that hasn’t even been covered and stand out!

  1. I have not really decided on a specific niche. I am currently doing some posts about weight loss and DIY. And a few shopping haul posts and product reviews. Like I said I have not really decided on what I’m going to stick with yet so rather then writing 5 or 6 different blogs I just stuck wit multiple niches.
